CUT HERE

Cut Here is an exhibit displaying the effects of obsessive plastic surgery.

INTRODUCTION

In a world where self-image is considered valuable to one’s place in society, it is found that the accessibility of plastic surgery allows individuals to sacrifice a sense of ethics, safety, and integrity. The unsettling reality of body dysmorphic disorder (BDD), where an individual is excessively concerned about a perceived defect in his or her features, is a leading cause of unnecessary plastic surgery procedures.

This exhibit focuses on revealing these internalized “fragmented body images” as a means of enticing viewers to be more aware of their bodies and to question the physical preferences established by society.
